Nursing Care
The Croft Nursing home is situated in Barrow-in-Furness and is very fortunate in being surrounded by beaches, mountains and lakes. The Croft Nursing Home is regulated by the Care Quality Commission.
The Croft was opened over 50 years ago as day care centre. As the needs of the community changed the Croft expanded its scope to provide Residential care, both long stay and respite. Due to the ever changing needs of the Residents in our care The Croft was registered and re-opened as a nursing home in June 2000. We continue to maintain high standards and improve the service we provide to the residents in our care.
We currently offer 23 single rooms for Residents over the age of 18 who require long term nursing care. The majority of our rooms have en-suite facilities and are all tastefully decorated. Residents are encouraged to individualise their rooms and choose their own soft furnishings. All bedrooms which require them are fitted with Arjo ceiling overhead tracking and hoist equipment which the staff are appropriately trained to use.
There is a communal lounge which leads into a lovely conservatory with views across Croft Village. The Lounge offers audio visual equipment which residents enjoy.
Residents are given a choice of menu at all meal times and individual preferences can be catered for. Our kitchen is staffed by fully trained catering personnel and is inspected on a regular basis by environmental health, & the Food Standards Agency receiving a 5 star rating. Our most recent inspection was on 1st August 2019, when we again retained our level 5 rating.
At the Croft Nursing Home all residents have access to an extensive range of services and clinical expertise including:

Facilities
Alongside the bedrooms, dining room and lounge we also have a chill out room for quiet reflective moments. The Croft also benefits from having its own on-site laundry room and the use of its own mini bus and adapted car, which are used for trips out both locally and further afield.
In addition to the en-suite facilities, we have 3 extra bathrooms which have Arjo baths with hydraulic hoists affording access to all our residents whatever their requirements.
Activities
We offer a very wide programme of activities in which all our residents can choose to participate. Our Activities Co-Ordinator arranges a wide range of in-house activities, outings, trips and also performances from outside theatre groups. The Residents hold a meeting once a month and are able to put forward their suggestions and ideas for future trips, outings and activities.
